Join us for an adventurous weekend in Key Largo and experience a real Florida lobster hunt! We’ll snorkel in clear ocean waters, search for spiny lobsters, relax by the beach and pool, prepare our fresh catch at a family BBQ, and enjoy a beautiful sunset by the water.
The trip is perfect for both active participants and families who simply want to spend a fun weekend in the Florida Keys. While some guests head out to hunt for lobsters, others can relax at the resort, swim, kayak, or enjoy the beach.
Dates: September 26-27
Recommended age: Children ages 10 and older may participate in snorkeling and lobster hunting with their parents. Younger children are welcome to join the trip and enjoy the resort, pool, beach, and family BBQ under parental supervision.
What to Bring
Each participant planning to snorkel will need:
- Mask and snorkel
- Fins
- Thick protective gloves — gardening or rubber-coated gloves work well, as spiny lobsters are very sharp
We will bring safety flotation boards, a support kayak, and diver-down flags.
Required Licenses
According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulations, all participants ages 16 and older who plan to personally catch lobsters must obtain:
- Florida Saltwater Fishing License — $17 per year for Florida residents
- Spiny Lobster Permit — $5

Children under 16 do not need a license. A license is also not required for guests who are joining the trip only to relax, enjoy the resort, and participate in the BBQ.
Transportation
Families may drive independently or use comfortable round-trip transportation from Sunny Isles Beach.
Accommodations
Participants book and pay for their accommodations separately. We recommend reserving early, as Saturday-night availability is limited.
